Town Councilman Jack Smith will face challenger Catherine Evangelista in the Cary District C election this fall.
Smith, who has served in the town council since 1989, is seeking his sixth term.
Things are already heating up in social media. Both candidates have Facebook pages. A third candidate, John Harvilla, has withdrawn from the race according to Ms. Evangelista’s Facebook page.
Jack Smith’s Facebook page was created by Mr. Smith’s colleague on the Town Council, Don Frantz.
The election will take place on Tuesday, October 6, 2009. Early voting begins on September 17.
