Cary Teen Wins U.S. Science Prize

jang_2Eileen Jang of Cary, a June graduate of NC School of Science and Math in Durham, has been named U.S. winner of the 2009 Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP), the most prestigious international competition for water-related research.

Ms. Jang studied how mercury persists in freshwater.

The SJWP award includes a $3,000 prize and a free trip to Sweden to compete against other national winners during World Water Week.

Ms. Jang is headed to Yale this autumn.
