Boys Arrested for Racist Vandalism

Two boys, 12 and 13, have been arrested for racist vandalism and graffiti on Cary Towne Boulevard and Maynard Road.

Swastikas and other forms of hate speech were spray painted on businesses including Imp Grill, Backstage Video and Avalon Cleaners on Cary Town Boulevard, On The Border on Walnut Street and Optometric Eye Care Center, according to MyNC. Chris Cowperthwaite filed this video:

ABC11 reports:

Police were dispatched to the scene in response to a call about suspicious activity around midnight Wednesday. When they arrived, they say the boys ran and officers found them hiding behind a nearby dumpster. Officers say the boys had spray paint on their hands.

The two juveniles were released to the custody of their parents. Their names were not released. Cary Police are continuing to investigate a rash of graffiti around town.

    I know their names, they go to my school. I know that they’re sorry for what they did, and they’ve changed since then. They are and never have been racist, they’re good boys who were just bored and stupid. And they are not responsible for other graffiti around town, they’ve changed, it’s over.
