Green Hope High School lost to Leesville Road in the season opener at home, 44-0.
The rain started soon after the band played the national anthem. Leesville scored twice quickly, then the Falcons committed a safety on a fourth down punt attempt. Leesville scored again in the first quarter to make the score 23-0.
Despite the downpour of rain and the deluge of points, Green Hope is a team with potential. The band looked crisp, and the cheerleaders, twirlers and dance team all toughed it out in the rain.
Note: Green Hope JV defeated Leesville Rd JV 21-14 in Thursday’s opener at Leesville.
