Oh what a night! All the elements of a great night under Friday night lights…a crisp band, dry field conditions, a good crowd, sponsors being honored at halftime and the field alive with cameras for the Time Warner Cable game-of-the-week. Despite the high spirits in the stadium, Green Hope was on the losing side of a 58-0 outcome.
Middle Creek converted a Green Hope fumble into their first score with 8:30 left in the first quarter. GHHS put together a solid drive from the Middle Creek 34 yard line to inside the Green Hope 20 yard line. The drive ended in Green Hope’s only scoring opportunity with a field goal attempt that went wide. Middle Creek went on to hold the Falcons scoreless, while putting 58 points on the board.
Despite the score, Green Hope is still building and there were highlights. J. J. Childs played a very solid game, always pushing for those extra yards. Until an injury in the third quarter put him on the sidelines, Drew Lloyd and the offense put together a couple of nice series. Matt Briley handled several tough snaps to get off successful punts.
Stay tuned fans and sponsors, Green Hope has some exciting football yet to offer this season.
