Just in time for Halloween, the Page-Walker Center is presenting a program called “Mysteries and Secrets: Exploring Cary-Area Cemeteries.”
According to the Friends of Page-Walker, “old cemeteries evoke a sense of mystery, imploring such questions as, ‘Who rests here?’ ‘What joys and sorrows surround their lives?’ ‘Are their families with them, or far, far away?’”
“Cemeteries are important historical assets that tell about a community’s past,” said Bob Myers of the Friends’ Historic Preservation Committee. “Not only do the burial places of our ancestors add culture to the area, but they hold valuable resources for historical and genealogical research. They are also monuments to the people who once inhabited our communities.”
The program will be held on Tuesday, October 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. The event is free. Light refreshments are served following the presentation. Attendees are encouraged to stay to continue the conversation and make new friends.
