Coach Chadwick’s comments, “We’re thrilled to win the conference this year. We graduated 13 players from last years squad, many of which were top players that are playing soccer in college. This year’s team has a chip on its shoulder to prove they are not the ‘rebuilding team.’ Tonight against Holly Springs it was a tough challenge. We were missing our captain and 3-year starter Jared Girard and our starting midfielder Andrew Wolschlag to injury, but the boys accepted the challenge and pulled out a win against a determined team.
Now we are getting ready for the 64 team state play-off tournament and hope to a keep up the momentum through the play-offs. It will be a heck of an uphill battle as the tournament has no seeding process and our section of the bracket includes Jordan, Broughton, Fuquay Varina, Sanderson, Leesville, Millbrook and Apex. These are arguably the top soccer schools in the state. It’s analogous to having a NCAA basketball tournament with Duke, UNC, Uconn, UCLA, Kentucky, Kansas, Florida and Georgetown in the same section of a bracket. Just ridiculous! We’ll give it our best shot, though.”
