Sanderson – 1

Coach Chadwick’s comments: “In what has been called the group of death in the NCHSAA 4A soccer play-offs because all 8 teams in the Eastern lower part of bracket are ranked in the top 20, we were able to survive an exciting game against Sanderson, 2-1 in overtime.

In the first half, we were able to control most of the play and create many scoring opportunities. We hit the cross bar, had a shot saved off the goal line by a Sanderson field player and missed a couple of open chances.

In the second half, Nader Jaibat got free and hit a nice shot into the Sanderson upper part of the net for the Green Hope 1-0 lead. Sanderson made a good adjustment that caused us some issues. They have quite a few talented players, especially in the attacking part of the field. Sanderson scored with a cross that found an open player who was able to head it in to tie it at 1-1.

In the second half of the 20 minute overtime, Sam Rossabi was able to serve a high cross to the far post, where Andrew Wolschlag emphatically headed into the net for the 2-1 lead. We were able to hold on for the final 4 minutes and advance to the third round.”
