Cary, NC - The UNC Tarheels fell to number 1 ranked Akron after penalty kicks decided the winner of the match after ending regulation 0-0.
Wake Forest lost to Virginia 2-1 earlier in the day of Final Four play in WakeMed Soccer Park.
Number 5 ranked UNC entered the NCAA tournament seeded 13th, while Wake Forest was ranked 3rd and seeded 3rd.
Akron (23-0-1) will play Virginia (18-3-3) Sunday at 1 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN2. The Cavs have won 5 NCAA titles, and the Zips were in a final in 1986.

Update: The Virginia Cavaliers were crowned NCAA champs by defeating the Akron Zips in the NCAA Cup in the national championship on Sunday. The game went into OT as a scoreless tie, and was settled on penalty kicks.
