Cary, N.C. - On Sunday, January 10, the Town of Cary received a report of larceny by an unlocked garage side door in the Lochmere area.
The items were taken during the overnight hours from an occupied home. Targeted items included two televisions, multiple purses, wallet, camera, and jewelry. Once inside, the perpetrator(s) overrode the motorized garage door in order to remove the possessions. The family’s two indoor, friendly dogs neither deterred the criminal(s) nor alerted the family to the intrusion.
To help prevent these types of crimes, the Town of Cary Police Department reminds citizens to keep all doors locked at all times, including garage doors, exterior doors and car doors. Please be watchful of any suspicious or idling vehicles in residential areas, especially at night, and don’t hesitate to call police with suspicions.

Jan 24 update: CARY, N.C. - With help from Cary citizens, the Town of Cary Police Department has arrested Marcel Jackson for last month’s larceny at Colonial Baptist Church as well as a residential burglary that occurred in early December. Jackson has been charged with Felony Larceny in the case of the Colonial Baptist Church and First Degree Burglary and Felony Larceny in the residential case. He is being held at the Wake County Public Safety Center and if convicted faces a maximum of 19.5 years in jail.
Jackson’s identification and arrest came after numerous Cary residents called with tips after watching a video released by the Town. While police thought the video might be associated with the recent burglaries in Cary’s Lochmere area, subsequent investigations proved the man to be related instead to the church case.
“While our hope is that crime would never occur, when it does, it’s great to know that our citizens are working as our partners in apprehending suspects. Citizen involvement is one of Cary’s hallmarks, and it’s key in helping keep our community safe,” said Pat Bazemore, Police Chief of the Town of Cary. “As we continue working the Lochmere burglaries, I want to encourage anyone with any piece of information, no matter how small it might seem, to call our department and report it.”
