Let’s Go Fly a Kite!

Cary, NC – Cary hosts it’s 15th annual Kite Festival on March 13th. Each year the festival is held at Bond Park’s large multipurpose field at 1pm. An event for children of all ages, it’s a great way to spend the afternoon. Free and open to the public.

An expert kite-flyer will be on hand for stunt kite demonstrations. Certificates and special awards will be given in a variety of kite-flying categories. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the fun begins at 1 p.m. Rain date: March 14 at 1 p.m. For more information, call (919) 469-4100.

12:30 p.m. – Registration begins
1 p.m. – Stunt kite demonstrations
1:45 p.m. – Shotgun start for all kite flyers with awards for quickest take off
2 p.m. – Demos will take place at various time depending on the wind
2:30 p.m. – Announcement of award winners

Related Information

Before the Kite Festival, children can learn to build a kite on Saturday, March 13 from 10-11:30 a.m. at Bond Park Community Center.

Kite Capers art class is for children ages 3-5 and High in the Sky is for ages 5-10. The cost of the class is $12 for residents, $16 for non-residents and registration is required. For more information, view the Parks & Rec Program Brochure.
