Cary, NC – If you’re a fan of jazz, you might want to mosey on over to the Chatham Street Cafe on Saturday evening between 6 and 9 to catch a set of the MPS Trio, one of the area’s premier jazz combos.
Fronted by pianist Michael Pelz-Sherman, the trio plays jazz from classic to contemporary including Thelonious Monk, Oscar Peterson and Duke Ellington.
Full Disclosure
Mike’s a good friend and a terrific musician. We play together in A Fifth of Blues (come see us next Wednesday, St. Paddy’s Day, at Rallypoint).
He’s is an incredible improvisationist and has an encyclopedic knowledge of music. Mike’s precise, melodic technique speaks of the formal training one can only get from years of study. He has his PhD in computer music from the University of California but will probably stick to a true piano sound with the jazz trio.
In Summary
Support the musical arts in Cary this Saturday from 6-9 PM at the Chatham Street Cafe. If you’re into jazz, the MPS Trio will not disappoint.
