Cary, NC – Since 1992, The Cary Farmers’ Market Downtown has been bringing farm-fresh food and local crafts to the community.
The market, which was established in 1992 as a co-operative effort between downtown Cary merchants, the Cary Chamber of Commerce, the Seeds of Hope Foundation and downtown Cary merchants, will be open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. The season runs through November.
Local growers and hand-crafters gather to sell their products at the market, which was established as a product outlet for small-acreage, family-operated farms.
Goods available include fresh-picked seasonable vegetables and fruits; plants, greens and herbs; homemade breads, desserts and jams; pasture-raised fresh-frozen meats; fresh shrimp; cut flowers; honey; hand-crafted jewelry; candles; eggs; coffee; soap; pottery; woodcrafted objects; rain barrels; and market bags crocheted out of recycled grocery plastic sacks.
Live music is provided by Chris Anderson and Gail Leonard. As part of the opening day events, Mayor Harold Weinbrecht will officially declare the market open for the season. Face painting for the kids will be available and you’ll also find a cup of fresh coffee to enjoy.
Market manager Michele Blackley will welcome you to enjoy the food and the spirit of community the market. Visit them on the web to get the latest market news and information about vendors and special events.
