The Town of Cary is asking citizens to apply for the Town's Boards and Commissions

Story by Lindsey Chester.

Cary, NC – Calling all active Cary residents- the Town needs YOU to apply for one of the many open Board positions.

Cary is a town of involved citizens. There are 10 advisory boards that are filled with volunteers who typically serve 3 year terms. They help the town council and staff debate issues from development approvals to the purchase of public art.

Who Should Apply

Ever applied for a permit? Every wondered why a shopping strip got built in your backyard? Then maybe Planning and Zoning is for you.

Want to have a hand in how the Downtown area shapes up in the future? Then try for a place on the Town Center Review Board.

Do you have an art background and feel passionate about Public Art? Then the Public Art Advisory Board is your ticket.

The key is to choose something that excites your interest or matches your expertise.

How You Can Apply

Review the Town’s  Boards and Commissions webpage for more information. There, you can view all the boards, who is currently serving terms and when they expire. Hint: if they expire in 2010- there’s your opening.

Currently there are more than 30 upcoming vacancies on the Town Council’s boards and commissions. That seems like pretty good odds!

Applications can be downloaded and printed (be sure to fill out BOTH Part A and Part B). The deadline for the town to receive your application is June 30.

For more information, contact Karen Gray, Deputy Town Clerk, (919) 319-4508 or email her at karen.gray@townofcary.org.
