Cary, NC - Super Skipper Amy Tarquini of Cary entered the Jump Rope Hall of Fame when she received the 2010 AAU Joel Ferrell Outstanding Performance Memorial Award during the team’s recent competition in Virginia.
A veteran of the Cary Family YMCA Super Skippers team, Tarquini was selected from athletes across the country to receive an award that recognizes both exceptional athletic ability and sportsmanship.
Tarquini competed in two national competitions this summer in the 18-22-year-old age division. At the 2010 USA National Jump Rope Championship in June in Galveston, TX, Tarquini and her pair’s partner, Kelly Conrad, received a silver medal for their pairs routine. And at the recent AAU event in Virginia, Tarquini received a bronze medal for her overall individual performance as well as silver medals for her pairs and Double Dutch freestyle events.
“I love jump rope because it is both challenging and fun,” Tarquini says. “Although Jump Rope is competitive, there is a huge sense of family and everyone is really close.”
