Cary, NC- Galaxy Cinema is starting a new its 2010 French Films Series this week with “The 400 Blows,” directed by Francois Truffaut. Other films in the series include “La Femme Nikita”, “Diabolic”, “City of Lost Children”, “Cache” and “Le Cage aux Folles”. Galaxy recently finished their first ever Chinese film festival and this should be a great classic follow-up.
The French films have been selected by the theater’s staff, and the series reflects the deep history and influence of French Cinema.”The 400 Blows” ushered in the French New Wave in cinema. “La Femme Nikita” influenced a generation of action-thrillers. Quentin Tarantino fans would enjoy this film.
“La Cage Aux Folles” was remade by Hollywood as “The Birdcage” and starred Robin Williams. Now it’s a Broadway show. The Galaxy is playing the original film.
The 400 Blows (1959) kicks off the series this week – Thursday, August 19th at 7:30 p.m.
A new film is shown every 2 weeks in the series, always on a Thursday night, through October 28th.
