Cary, NC - The CaryCitizen has covered the Carying Place before. They provide a Transitional Housing Program that gives families an opportunity to stabilize their financial situation, leading to permanent self-sustaining housing with a goal of helping people work toward self-reliance and growth. They service six families at a time, and families stay in the program up to four months.
The Carying Place is holding its Walk for Wings 5K fun run & 1-mile walkathon for families to prevent homelessness on Sunday, September 26th.
Walk for Wings begins at the Cary Family YMCA (course will be on the Greenway) with event sign-in beginning at 3:30 and family activities sponsored by the Cary YMCA. Following the 5K fun run and 1-mile walk, there will be an ice cream social and presentation of prizes and awards for the top fundraising individuals and groups. Registration is $25 per participant and includes a Walk for Wings t-shirt.
“Walk for Wings is a fun, family event that will not only raise much-needed funds for The Carying Place, but also raises awareness of the homeless working families and at-risk children in our community” said Alice McCall, Executive Director of The Carying Place.
