Cary, NC – Spotted another community garden in my travels around Cary. This one’s at the front of the parking lot by Whole Foods in Waverly Place.

There’s corn and Swiss chard and tomatoes plus flowers of all sorts. Everything is donated to the Inter-faith Food Shuttle. The plot is farmed by four families, according to Whole Foods.

Whole Foods also partners with Cary’s Pocket Community Garden and Penny Road Elementary PTA Community Garden.

Got Extra Produce?

At this time of year, our gardens are sometimes over-generous with their bounty. Who hasn’t had too many tomatoes or peppers. Or zucchini.

You can actually drop off your extra produce on Thursdays and Friday’s at Whole Foods (special bin in the Produce Department near the front doors). Whether you bring vegetables, fruit, herbs, or flowers, your harvest will be included in the pickup by the Inter-faith Food Shuttle.
