“In an environment where development activity has been tough, together with the support and efforts of the Town of  Morrisville, Target and the partners of 1st Carolina Properties, we believe this will be one of the few new developments done in 2011,” stated Brett Hutchens CASTO partner.

Connell Radcliff, principal of 1st Carolina Properties added, “We are excited to break ground on the initial phase of this 100-acre mixed-use development.  With Target and over 100,000 square feet of additional retail, restaurant, and entertainment uses, phase I of Park West will serve the Morrisville community well.  We look forward to starting this project, and thank everyone who has been supportive of our efforts thus far.”

The area continues to be one of the most attractive markets for growth in the nation and boasts an average household income of $90,000, a population base of 123,500 and over 92,000 daytime employees.

Yawn….. More development or should I say Hooray! A third Target within 10 minutes of my house by car. And a second theater right across the street, how convenient. Seriously, are we ever going to put though into land use in this country? State? County? Town? From the picture, I shutter to think yet another Crossroads (which I do NOT bother to go into) is springing up, bringing with it all of the customary and expected bad traffic. Absolutely no thought at all about access to this area by means other than a car seems evident. So, good job Morrisville! Another stellar decision and excellent planning move — NOT!.

Input continues to be collected on what and where regarding area transit options. If you’ve not had a chance to weigh in, there’s still time. A Triangle Regional Transit public workshop is scheduled at Morrisville Town Hall on Wednesday 9/22 from 4 – 7. Especially with the coming Park West ground breaking, this discussion on transit is timely. Input from area residents is important if options are to be made available in Morrisville.

What I worry about is how this shopping center will negatively affect those already in existence.
The recession has been tough on local retailers. And stores tend to “jump ship” to the newest spot, leaving massive vacancies in their wake.
Witness the old Sam’s location on N Harrison when that moved to Shiloh Corners, and the shell that remains of Preston Corners after Stone Creek opened. When this new theater opens, we are sure Carmike will go dark across the street…
No doubt we are over – malled as our demographics here are still better than most n the country.
