Jeggings for all shapes and sizes are a hit this Fall

Editor’s Note: Cary is a fashionable town. That’s why we enlisted Michele Little of One Chic Mama, to talk about one of our current favorite fashion trends, Jeggings.

Jeggings For Your Body Type

Story by Michele Little

CARY, NC – By now, you’ve surely noticed that jeggings, that hybrid of jeans and leggings, are all the rage.  For those of you who have embraced jeggings but aren’t sure how best to wear them to flatter your body type, here are my suggestions for getting the most from this look:

Linear (Tube) Body Type – You’re long, lean and have few, if any, curves.  The skinny fit of jeggings is perfect for your lithe, athletic body type.  Try pairing jeggings with a long tunic. Layer on a jacket to create the illusion of curves.  A pair of ballet flats will finish this look off with style.

Apple Body Type – Apples carry their weight in the tummy area.  When worn correctly jeggings can show off your assets.  Try a pair of cropped jeggings in a dark color and top it off with a roomy tunic in a deep, rich color that gently skims the body while making you look slimmer.  Elongate your leg line with a pair of nude shoes and draw the eye upward with a gorgeous pair of earrings.

Pear Body Type – Pears carry their weight below the waist and are generally curvy in this area.  Ensure you select a pair of jeggings that fit you well in this area – high-waisted are best – and keep you covered without creating a muffin top.  A printed tunic will draw the eye upward and a statement necklace will keep the focus where you want it – around your face.

Hourglass Body Type – If you’re curvy both above and below the waist, chances are you’re an hourglass.  Be sure to choose jeggings that enhance your curves. A darker wash minimizes your hips and thighs.  Team these with a vibrant print tunic, but be sure to belt it to make the most of your small waist.

My best advice is to adopt only those trends that really make you feel more like yourself.  If jeggings are a definite no-go, by all means please substitute your favorite pair of bootcut denims for jeggings and you’ll have a look that will be flattering and feel more like you.

What you wear tells the world who you are.

What Do You Say?

Locally, you can find jeggings at Denim & Lace, skinny jeans at Gigi’s Boutique and designer leggings at Ciao Bella.

I just wish they were not called “jeggings”… I am still fine with “skinny jeans with a stretch” or “leggings that look like jeans” :)

I agree- my daughter mocks them- meanwhile she should be wearing them.
