Cary, NC – Last week, Fortune Magazine released their annual list of 100 Best Companies to Work For. Intuit, makers of popular business and consumer software, ranked #44, making the list for the 10th consecutive year.
For Steve Malik, whose company Medfusion was acquired by Intuit last year to create Intuit Health, it has been a time of good fortune all around.
How’s That Acquisition Going?
“Fantastic,” Steve said in response to my question about the first few months of the acquisition by Intuit. “When you have such a well-known brand behind you, with a history of making complex things simple for people, it opens some doors with partners and clients that will help us on our mission to make health care easier for everyone.”” Intuit’s line includes Quicken, QuickBooks and Turbo Tax.
Intuit Health provides a secure online infrastructure currently used by more than three million patients and 33,000 doctors to communicate. From requesting an appointment or prescription refill, to online bill pay or asking your doctor a question and receiving lab results, Intuit Health has the answer for 21st century health care with their self-service patient portal.
“Once you’ve used it, you never want to go back to holding on the telephone to talk with a doctor,” Steve said.
Steve rattled off some interesting statistics:
Giving Back
At Intuit Health in Cary, the company has a legacy of giving back to the community. Steve told me that every employee gets 32 hours of paid time a year for volunteer work. He reeled off a long list of area non-profits supported by employees including The Boys & Girls Club and The Salvation Army.
Expanding. Hiring.
Since the acquisition, Intuit Health has added more than a dozen positions and is open to hire 20 more. “Programmers?” I asked.
“All kinds of people,” Steve said. “Sales, Operations, Human Resources.”
Fortune is indeed smiling on Intuit Health in Cary.
