Cary EMS Honors 60 Combined Years of Service

Cary, NC – Chicks dig cops. Kids dig firemen. Or maybe it’s the other way around.

But who digs EMS workers?

Anyone having a heart attack, victim of a fire or involved in a car accident.

Everyday, it’s something for EMS. They’re the unsung heroes of our community safety net.

So it was good to hear from our friend Steve Cohen, Chief of Cary EMS (technically, it’s called Cary Area EMS). Steve sent along a picture (above) of four EMS members celebrating milestones totally 60 years of service.

From Cary EMS:

On January 3, 2012 Cary Area EMS saluted four of their members who have a total of 60 Years of Service for the organization.  Division Chief Marion Houle 20 years service, Division Chief Christian Heinrich 15 years of service, Captain Justine Hollingshead 15 years of Service, and Chief Steven Cohen 10 years of service.

Who digs EMS workers? Cary citizens, that’s who.

As a former medic myself, I appreciate this article greatly! It IS true that EMS are the often overlooked ‘heroes’ in our world. I have fond memories of ‘those days’ nonetheless 🙂

As Chair of the Cary Area EMS Board of Directors (yes, we have a board of directors — did you know that Cary Area EMS is a non-profit organization, NOT part of the Town of Cary government?), I think I speak for our entire board in saying how proud we are of all of the employees and volunteers at Cary Area EMS and we congratulate Christian, Justine, Marion and Steve on their significant service anniversary milestones.

We’re fortunate to have such outstanding EMS service in Cary.

Count me among those who dig EMS workers (cops and firefighters too!).
