Weekend: Soccer, Poetry, Dentistry and Ferrets

Cary, NC – An outstanding assortment of events on the Calendar this weekend in Cary, with pro soccer and basketball, a poetry festival, a dentistry clinic, something to do with ferrets and much more.

Saturday, April 14

Dentistry from the Heart is a free dental clinic by Cary Family Dental that starts at 7 AM. See our story for more details.

At 8 AM, the farmers markets open. There’s the Western Wake Farmers Market in Carpenter Village, the Downtown Cary Farmers Market on Academy Street and DJ’s Berry Stand on Salem Church Road.

The Cary Road Race is at 8:30 AM at Booth Amphitheatre and the Spring Litter Sweep is all over town. See the Calendar for more info.

Triangle Ferret Lovers meet at Eva Perry Library at 10:30. Bats for Matt charity baseball game between Green Hope and Cardinal Gibbons starts at 1 PM. All proceeds go to Duke Cancer Research.

Saturday night, Cary’s professional sports franchises will be in action. The RailHawks square off against Atlanta at Wake Med Soccer Park. And the Cary Invasion takes the court at Herb Young Community Center against Big Texans. Both sporting events start at 7 PM.

Sunday, April 15

The Nazim Hikmet Poetry Festival runs from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM at Page-Walker on Sunday. Poetry workshops in the morning, Music and entertainment all afternoon. Free and open to all.

Also Sunday, the Triangle Youth Ensemble will perform at Cary Arts Center at 3 PM.

Lastly, social media this week was all a-twitter with news of a planned gas station boycott on Sunday. So when you go to all of these interesting events in Cary this weekend, take a bicycle. Or a horse.
