Cary, NC – If you’re visiting Wrightsville Beach this summer, don’t come home without a stop at Boombalatti’s Ice Cream.
Geographically speaking, Wrightsville is Cary’s closest beach. In fact, we wrote about Day-Tripping to Wrightsville Beach last summer, including places to stop and where to find the best parking.
But whether you’re a day-tripper or a regular visitor, a stop a Boombalatti’s Ice Cream is sure to cap the trip and make everyone happy. Thanks to our friend Karen for the tip.
Tucked in a shopping strip on Military Cutoff, Boombalatti’s serves fresh, small batch ice cream, sorbet and similar frozen delights.
Three things makes Boombalatti’s worth the trip:
The quality is what you’d expect from small-batch production – it’s creamy and light, but not full of air. You can somehow tell it’s never been frozen hard or allowed to melt a little. It tastes fresh.
Variety of the flavors is where Boombalatti’s gets creative. It’s changing all the time, but the day we were there featured Triple Berry sorbet, Chocolate Cheesecake, Mango and about two dozen other flavors.
The kids got toppings on their ice cream – M&M’s and marshmallows respectively.
Finally, for gourmet ice cream, the price was pretty reasonable. 2 adults and 2 kids: $12.00.
The store is cheery and mod – lime green walls and modern furniture. There’s a line of old-time rockers outside for that North Carolina front-porch feel.
