Cary, NC – Cary Visual Art will be unveiling their 2012 installation of the annual Outdoor Sculpture Exhibit at a special ticketed reception August 10 along Academy Street in Downtown Cary. Here’s a sneak peek at what will grace our Downtown through next June.
The new exhibit will showcase 12 pieces of original sculptures created by nationally recognized artists in annual juried show. The winner of “Best in Show” will be announced at the reception this Friday.
Sculptures will start to be installed beginning at 8:30 am at locations in the Town Center. Sculptures will be on view from August 10, 2012– June 21, 2013.

Members of the general public are invited to a reception welcoming the artists being held Friday, August 10, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Page-‐Walker Arts and History Center. Guests are invited to meet the artists and to join the juror and members of the art community for hors d’oeuvres by The Chef’s Palette, beverages, including local beer from Carolina Brewing Company, live jazz music from the “The Art of Cool Project” in the gardens, and tram tours of the sculptures. As a highlight, Juror Jeffrey York, Public & Cultural Arts Administrator for the Town of Chapel Hill, will announce this year’s Best in Show winner. The winning artist will receive a $3,000 grand prize. This year’s show will also feature a cell phone audio tour to further enhance the audience experience of the artwork. Walking tour maps will be available for the show at Lazy Daze and can be found at the Cary Arts Center and the Page-‐Walker Arts & History Center.
Tickets are $40 and are available at the door, at the Cary Arts Center, or through the Cary Visual Art website (www.caryvisualart.org.) Discounted combination tickets for also attending the evening’s Cary Cross Currents Festival concert are available exclusively at the Cary Arts Center box office. In addition, sponsorships are still available at several levels.
