Cary, NC — Bring a can of food and ride C-Tran for free tomorrow, September 10, 2014. It’s all part of Try Transit Month in Cary.

C-Tran: Stuff the Bus and Other Transit Freebies

We apologize for the late notice, but we just got this info today. In the interest of expedience, we’ll quote from Town of Cary email received this morning

In support of Triangle Transit’s designation of September as Try Transit Month, the Town of Cary’s C-Tran System will offer the following promotions to encourage citizens to explore public transportation:

    • September 10, 2014 – Stuff the Bus – Ride any of C-Tran’s six fixed routes fare-free with the donation of one or more canned goods (one can is equal to one way free, two or more cans redeemable for a free roundtrip). Canned foods will benefit the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina
    • September 18, 2014 – Customer Appreciation Day – Ride any of C-Tran’s six fixed routes fare-free from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

“C-Tran offers safe, clean and reliable transportation throughout Cary, and we encourage riders to offer a word of thanks to the drivers who make this happen on Transit Staff Appreciation Day September 26,” said Ray Boylston, Town of Cary Transit Services Administrator.

Public transportation continues to grow in Cary, netting over two million fixed route trips since 2006. With the passing of the Fiscal Year 2015 budget, C-Tran now operates with extended service hours: Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Using the online trip planner, citizens can ride C-Tran to connect to Triangle Transit and Capital Area Transit, reaching destinations in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. For a map of C-Tran’s fixed routes and more on Try Transit Month, search “C-Tran” at www.townofcary.org or call (919) 485-RIDE.

One word of warning. While C-Tran has exended it’s hours until 10pm, which is appreciated by many, TTA has not. So if you have to connect with TTA in the evening, plan on doing so based on their schedule, not C-Tran’s.
