Cary, NC — This weekend in Cary antique collectors will get their fill, veterans will be recognized, and fundraisers will be held to benefit some very noble causes, according to the Calendar of Events.

WCPSS District 9 School Board Member Bill Fletcher will be available for an open dialogue with parents and community members Thursday afternoon at the Cary Chamber to hear questions, input, and concerns about Wake County schools.
Every Thursday evening at 6:30, Triangle Wine in Morrisville hosts an in-store wine tasting. For $10, participants can sample wine and light hors d’oeuvres.
After, the Cary Choral Classic will take place at Cary High School at 7 pm. The show will feature both independent and joint performances from three different high school choirs.

Cary’s Annual Veteran’s Luncheon will be held at Herb Young Community Center from 11:30-1. Lunch is free to veterans and their families, and the patriotic program will also feature entertainment.
Cary Towne Center will be filled with live music, hula dancers, mermaids, and even Santa from 5-9 pm on Friday evening. The entire fundraiser, called Mission: Rescue Radiothon, benefits the Raleigh Rescue Mission.
Downtown at Page-Walker, find PBS antiques expert Ken Farmer, who will share the insight and adventures he encountered while working with the Antiques Roadshow at a wine, cheese, and dessert reception. Meanwhile, at the Cary Arts Center, hear a free recital from UNCG faculty member and pianist John Salmon at 7:30 pm.

The Waverly Farmers Market has closed for the season, but Downtown Cary Market and the Western Wake Farmers Market will both be open this weekend. Downtown is open through the end of November, and WWFM is open year round but goes to winter hours December-March. Get your fresh apples, collards, winter squash and spinach along with artisanal cheese, ranch raised meats and much more.
If you are an antiques collector, continue Friday’s Page-Walker activities by attending an Antiques Appraisal Fair on Saturday, where Ken Farmer and his team of experts will examine and appraise your item.
Then, from 9-3, visit the annual Lochmere Arts & Crafts Show to see the works of both old and new artists.
The 3rd Annual Getzelmania 5k will take place in Morrisville from 9 am-12 pm in honor of Stephen Getzelmann. The run is family-friendly and benefits the Getzelmann Fund–a mission to help widows and orphans.
Later on Saturday, Infinity Ballet will be presenting their annual Storybook Dance Program at the Cary Arts Center from 3-4 pm.
On Saturday night, the Cary Invasion kicks off the season against Bull City Legacy in the Tobacco Road Professional Basketball League. Gates open at 6 PM at Herb Young Community Center.

The First Friday of the month is here again, and Downtown Raleigh art galleries and museums will keep their doors open late so that individuals can participate in free activities, peruse or purchase local art, and enjoy light refreshments during this monthly celebration of art culture.
In Durham, Comedian Dave Chappelle is at DPAC from Friday to Sunday, and Grammy-nominee Rufus Wainwright will be at the Carolina Theater on Saturday.
A free Tree Identification Hike will start at 10 am in Pittsboro on Saturday, when a tour guide will be taking hikers along the Bynum Mill Access trail along the Haw River. The hike is about 2 miles round-trip.
Celebrating Veteran’s Day
On Saturday, a Veteran’s Day Parade and Ceremony to honor troops and veterans will take place in Downtown Raleigh from 9:15 am-12 pm. A wreath laying and ceremony will be held at 11 am at the NC Capitol grounds.
