Cary, NC — For the 6th year in a row, CaryCitizen will produce the Cary Scavenger Hunt. This year, the Hunt will take place on Saturday, September 12, 2015.
The Cary Scavenger Hunt
The Cary Scavenger Hunt starts at Page-Walker Arts and History Center. What better place to start your adventure than Cary’s most historic building in Downtown? Did you know that the Page-Walker once served as a hotel for travelers stopping through Cary via our railroad before we had an actual depot?
From the Page-Walker hotel, teams will disburse all over our 64 square-mile town as they try to find the most clues on their way to being declared the winners.
The Town of Cary is once again our hosting sponsor.
Along the way, teams will look for clues that are locally owned businesses where they could meet the owners or learn some fun facts. They will venture out to find some of our public art pieces, many of which are rich in history. Teams will walk on Cary greenways and visit some of our 30 public parks. They will look for historic landmarks and learn a little Cary history.
Teams don’t have to be experts on Cary trivia (although that helps!). Past teams have included families that recently moved to town. They told us it was a great way to learn more about where they moved to as well as to sample some food from restaurants they’d been wanting to try.
The Hunt is a fantastic team-bonding experience–and whether that’s moms, dads, kids, best buddies, or co-workers, everyone can add some expertise to the day.
The Cary Scavenger Hunt will have a new feature this year–smart phone check-ins. Most photos will require a team photo be taken at the spot where a clue is found. These photos will be uploaded in the field to our scoring system.
Everyone will have access to this, and we will be posting photos at the finish. Don’t worry if you don’t have a smart phone–we can score you without one. You will just need a digital camera.
Teams & Winners
Each team will compete in one of three categories:
- Corporate Teams
- Family Teams
- Adult Teams
Each category will have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner. In addition to trophies, the top three winning teams will win $250 cash! Members of any team can win any of our raffle prizes. Last year, a participant won a set of tires from Atlantic Tire and Service! That’s certainly worth more than the price of admission!
Pricing will remain at $55 per team of four people. Everything is included in the price of registration! Pay one price and enjoy a light breakfast at registration, snacks during the day, and food samples and entertainment at the finish line. All team members will receive event t-shirts to wear during the day and keep as souvenirs. There free raffle drawing ensures that anyone can come away a winner!
