The Cary Innovation Center will host a time management workshop on Thursday at lunchtime (11:30 am-1 pm) at 201 W. Chatham Street in Downtown Cary.

Join the Sister Cities Association of Cary on Thursday (6:30 pm) at Academy Street Bistro in Downtown Cary to enjoy dinner and drinks and to meet new friends from around the world.

Join Chatham Hill Winery for “Wine Away Fridays,” where they stay open until 10 pm with live music, beer and wine. This week, Cousin’s Maine Lobster food truck of Raleigh will make an appearance from 6-8 pm to give out samples.

From 5 pm-8 pm, the streets of Downtown Cary will be blocked off for the Cary Night Out, a family-friendly festival celebrating Cary’s status as one of the safest cities in the U.S. Join Cary police and fire personnel for free food, K9 demonstrations, strength and agility challenges and information about safety initiatives. Kids can enjoy exploring police cars and firetrucks.

The first outdoor movie of Koka Booth’s Movies by Moonlight Series kicks off on Friday evening. Bring a picnic and blanket and watch A Space Odyssey under the stars.

Catch the Cary Players’ final three Legally Blonde performancesFriday’s show starts at 7:30 pm at the Cary Arts Center with other shows on Saturday (7:30 pm) and Sunday (3 pm).

Start your Saturday morning with one of two Cary 5Ks–the Purple Cloth 5K and Kids Dash (benefiting Dorcas Ministries) at Bond Park or the Lucy Daniels 5K. Both start at 8 am.

Then, spend your Saturday afternoon in Downtown Cary. From 9 am-5 pm, you can watch artists paint outside as a part of Cary’s En Plein Air festival. Favorites will be celebrated at a gala on May 29, 2015. Also, while you’re out there, stop by the gardens of Page-Walker for an Herbfest, complete with plant vendors, butterfly releases and more. Herbfest is free and lasts until 3 pm.

Old Crow Medicine Show and Sturgill Simpson will perform at Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Regency Park at 7 pm on Saturday evening. Lawn seats start at $35.

In the mood for sports? The Cary Invasion basketball team will begin their first game of the play-offs at the Herb Young Community Center at 7 pm. Meanwhile, at 7:30 pm, the Carolina Railhawks will take on Tampa Bay at WakeMed Soccer Park at 7:30 pm.

Join West Regional Library on Louis Stephens Drive for a special event–a PNC Mobile Learning Adventure. In the traveling exhibit, kids can dress up as different professionals and have their picture superimposed on an appropriate background. Additionally, parents can take home learning kits and books. The fun starts at 1 pm and lasts until 5 pm.

Across the Triangle

A Ladies Night Out Runway Fashion Show and Auction will take place at the Durham Convention Center on Friday, May 1, 2015 at 6 pm. Tickets are $60.

The Longleaf Film Festival takes place this weekend at the NC Museum of History in Downtown Raleigh. The festival, which showcases some of the best on-screen historical and contemporary stories, is free, but seats are available on a first-come first-served basis.

Also in Raleigh this weekend, on Saturday, May 2, 2015, is Out! Raleigha family-friendly festival that celebrates the LGBT community and its allies to foster awareness and a sense of inclusiveness in our community and beyond.

The 3rd annual Color the Hill 5K Run will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 9:30 am-noon in Chapel Hill. You’ll start the run in white and end it with all the colors of a rainbow. There will also be food trucks and other fun festivities.
