Forbidden Broadway is one of the most hilarious shows that comes to Cary. This year’s show will take place in the Cary Arts Center at 7:30 pm and will target theater favorites like Wicked, The Book of Mormon and more. Seasoned theater-goers or those new to Broadway will all enjoy non-stop laughs and family fun. Tickets ($26) are available on etix.

Down the road at The Cary Theater, don’t miss it as the Cary Players kick-off their first production of this year’s Valentine’s Day show, Crossing Delancey. Show dates, showtimes and tickets for this romantic comedy ($20) are available on etix.

Take a free class at Garden Supply Co. at 10 am on Saturday morning to learn how to Attract Birds to Your Yard.

Ready to get a first look at downtown Cary’s new boutique hotel, The Mayton Inn? Your chance is Saturday afternoon at 2 pm – you’ll witness a ribbon cutting and then get to take tours of the beautiful property. Tours continue until 4 pm.

Then, at 3 pm at the Cary Arts Center, take a ride on a musical discovery with pianist Anatoly Larkin and learn how to use your artistic skills to create a new piece of music. Dr. Larkin’s shows are meant to engage young audience members, but parents will enjoy the show, too. Tickets are $8 on etix. This show is part of the arts center’s family series.

Last week, the Cary Invasion pro basketball team competed against the police department in a fun game to raise money for Dorcas Ministires. This Saturday, the fun continues in the Invasion’s home court (Herb Young Center in downtown Cary) as they take on Wilmington at 7 pm. Invasion games are always full of dancing, food and family fun – don’t miss it.

Across the Triangle

Chandeliers in trees, LED-lit hula hoop dances, projections on the side of buildings and more will all make-up Shimmer, a one-night only event featuring artists’ lighted works in 20 venues scattered throughout downtown Chapel Hill and Carrboro this Friday, February 12 from 6-11 pm. The Hayti Heritage Film Festival is this week in Durham from Thursday, February 11 – Saturday, February 13, 2016. This annual film festival showcases diverse works by and about people of African descent.
