Cary Art Loop

Friday, August 26, 6 PM to 9 PM
The final Friday of every month, from 6 PM to 9 PM, downtown Cary showcases its artists and musicians during Final Friday Cary Art Loop. Visit art galleries and enjoy live music, performance art and more. There will be several “entertainment hubs,” each featuring visual art, some kind of live performance and food trucks. Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival

The 40th Annual Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival is back, with fun things to do for the whole family. Enjoy live music on five stages, explore offerings from cultural groups and browse the art. Musical performers include (among others) Lakeside Drive Band, West Street Band, La Fiesta, Night Shift, Grass Cats, Peter Lamb & Mark Wells and Acoustic Manner. Kids can get their faces painted, play games, create make-and-take artwork and enjoy entertainment just for them on the Kids’ World Stage.

The Cary Theater is a multi-use cultural facility with a focus on digital arts, including film, youth and amateur theater and music. It’s in the heart of downtown Cary and is owned by the Town of Cary. As part of its programming, it sometimes presents free films and other events. This week, enjoy some old school cartoon action with Bugs Bunny Superstar on Saturday at 10 AM and 2 PM. The film includes nine classic Bugs Bunny shorts, as well as interviews with the cartoon’s creators.
On Monday at 6 PM, Cary’s Downtown Developer Manager Ted Boyd will be giving an inside look on new developments for Downtown Cary. Following the talk there will be a Q&A.
Anniversary Celebration at Herbert Young Community Center

The Herbert C. Young Community Center is celebrating its 25th year with free activities all week. Visit the community center’s website for full details, including the schedule for each activity and opportunities are Pickleball, line dancing, open gym basketball, Zumba and table tennis.
Wind Down Wednesdays

Wednesday, August 31, 6 PM to 9 PM
Waverly Place has been the place to spend your Wednesday evenings over the summer with its Wind Down Wednesdays events. The highlight is the live music. This is the last Wind Down Wednesday of the summer and they’re going out with a bang. Musical entertainment will be provided by the award-winning beach music band, The Embers. Kids can play on the two playgrounds and cool off at the splash pad. The shops and restaurants will be open, and many will be offering Wind Down Wednesday specials. Bring a lawn chair and relax. No outside alcohol, glass containers or coolers are allowed.
