The Penguins were gunning early in the 3rd as they had 5 shots in 3 minutes putting the Canes on their heels. Coach Muller was talking it up on the bench and something must have sunk in as the Canes started doing a great job of forechecking.
The Carolina Hurricanes hosted the red (and blue) hot New York Rangers on Dec. 1, 2011 at the RBC Center. The Rangers have a powerful offensive and a very stingy defense as they have the lowest goals against in the NHL. The Canes lost in the first meeting, 5-1, and Thursday night’s game ended with a similar result, 5-3 in favor of the Rangers.
The Carolina Hurricanes hosted the division leading Florida Panthers under new coach Kirk Muller at the RBC Center Nov 29. While they lost 3-1, really 2-1 (a late empty-netter), the team did skate better and hit more, probably to impress the new coach.
The Carolina Hurricanes hosted the Montreal Canadiens the night before Thanksgiving and really needed this game in more ways than one. At the end, they lost 4-3 in a shootout, which is a horrible way a professional sport should determine the outcome of a team game.
The Carolina Hurricanes had the Winnipeg Jets in town the day after Thanksgiving for a Southeast Division matchup. The Canes have 4 of the next 5 games at home and need to win all as they’re against Eastern Conference teams.
The Carolina Hurricanes hosted the Toronto Maple Leafs for a Sunday afternoon game on Nov. 20, 2011 for a must-win game for the Canes after going scoreless in the last 135 minutes.
Buffalo fans are…let’s say…a special breed. Confession: my college roommate, great guy – and very smart, except he’s a Sabres fan. I try to not hold it against him.
The Hurricanes hosted the Philadelphia Flyers on Monday in a rematch of their 5-1 shellacking in Philly back on Oct. 29, 2011. Once again, the Flyers prevailed, this time by a score of 5-3.
After losing the past 4 games, the Canes beat The Penguins 5-3 in an exciting game Saturday Nov 12 at the RBC Center.
