Cary, NC – If ever this season there was a time to step up, the game against the Philadelphia Flyers was it. The Flyers were just a point ahead of the Canes with both teams just outside of a playoff spot. Cary, NC – Cam Ward is back being the Canes #1 goalie and earned his second shutout of the season with a solid performance in a 2-0 win over the Montreal Canadiens. Brett Pesce scored his first of the season on what turned out to be the game winner early in the second. The Canadiens have former Canes head coach Kirk Muller as their assistant coach. Muller played for the Habs and was always a fan favorite so it’s good to see him back where he is appreciated. Read more
Cary, NC – Fresh off the All-Star break and the start of a season-long, eight-game home stand, the Carolina Hurricanes beat a hurting Ottawa Senators team 2-1 before a home crowd that had one of the first major favors by the new owner.
Everyone in the mezzanine was given the opportunity to sit in the lower bowl or 200 level. I’d say 99 percent of the folks took advantage of the better seats with just a few remaining in the upper deck. Sort of brought back memories of Greensboro when the upper deck had the black curtain their second year there. Read more
Cary, NC – The newest team in the NHL, the Las Vegas Golden Knights, entered the game as “the best in the west” and left the game as “best in the NHL” as they beat the Carolina Hurricanes, 5-1, in a game the Canes were never in from the drop of the puck. The Canes beat the Golden Knights in their first match up in Sin City which was also Cam Ward’s 300th career victory but this game was played as if many Cane players were at the casino the night before until the wee hours of the morning. Cary, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes faced two disappointing losses over the weekend, including one narrow loss against the Washington Capitals not long after the Canes beat them on the road.
Cary, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes lost in overtime, 5-4, against the Washington Capitals but the mysterious extra point allowed the Canes to get into wildcard spot for the playoffs. The Canes and Caps will seem like they’re in the playoffs now as they’ll see each other three times in the next 11 days. If tonight’s game was any indication of the next two, those should be physical and entertaining games. Read more
Cary, NC – With Cam Ward in goal again, the Carolina Hurricanes came from behind and beat the Pittsburgh Penguins, 2-1, at a nearly full PNC Arena Friday night. The Penguins always bring a good crowd as there are many that made the move to God’s Country giving Cary its famous acronym, as well as having won the Stanley Cup the past two seasons. Read more

The Canes started the game four points outside a spot for the Wild Card spot for the playoffs and this solid win over the top team in the highly competitive Metropolitan Division should do a lot for the confidence of this young team and the loyal Caniacs. Cary, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers played one of the most exciting games of the season that had everything any hockey fan could ask for: a home team win, fast play that got the crowd into the game early and throughout the game, a successful powerplay, successful penalty kill, a very exciting overtime and plenty of entertainment off the ice as the game theme was Star Wars with The Force being with the Caniacs on and off the ice.
