Cary, NC – Playing tough is one thing. But an excessively hostile atmosphere at a game in Person County last week is causing some parents to ask the NCHSAA to take another look at a plan that reassigns Panther Creek and Green Hope to the PAC 6 Conference.

More Than a Rough Game

Spectators described the game between Green Hope and Person High in Roxboro as more than hard play.

One of their players stuck his foot out to trip one of our cheerleaders when she was back flipping on the court, they intimidated the referees who were afraid to call anything against them. We had 4 pretty good injuries – 2 concussions, split chin and a possible broken nose for which NONE had fouls called on them.

The car of a GH parent was vandalized in Roxboro:

Upon arriving in Roxboro, after our hour and a half drive, we ran into Bojangles (literally 2 minutes from the school) for a drink in our Green Hope shirts and in the 5 minutes we were in there somebody drew on my white car in “Rocket” blue permanent marker. Cary, NC – Panther Creek football is one of the last four teams standing in the state. The Catamounts (13-1) travel to take on the Wake Forest – Rolesville Cougars (13-1) on Friday at 7:30 in the regional round (4th) of the North Carolina high school football playoffs.

The winner of Friday night’s game will compete in the 4-AA championship game at Carter-Finley on December 11.

Panther Creek has advanced this far in the playoffs by easily handling South View High School 44-21 in round 1. The 35-28 home win over a good Fuquay-Varina team in round 2 earned them a trip to play the number one seed Seventy First High School in Fayetteville. Catamounts won 35-32 on Friday night with a thrilling come from behind win.

Cary, NC – This week’s Wide World of Cary Sports features photos from the state invitational cheer leading championships that took place at the Raleigh Convention Center on Saturday, November 13th.  Cheerleaders from across the state took part in the competition, and we have photos of the squads from Cary High, Green Hope and Panther Creek.

We also have photos from Panther Creek football’s 1st round playoff win over South View, Green Hope’s Wachovia Cup presentation at UNC’s Keenan Stadium, and ACC Men’s Soccer action from WakeMed Soccer Park.

Cary, NC- Friday night’s match-up between Panther Creek’s varsity football team and rival Sanderson was a mis-match. Sanderson never got their feet under them as the Catamounts controlled the game to win 31-0.

Cary, NC- The Panther Creek Lady Catamounts volleyball team is off to a roaring season. And we’ve got the pictures to prove it.

Even though they are new on the block (the school is only 4 years old, after all), they are in third place the Tri-9 conference behind Apex and Green Hope with a  record of 5-1 (the one loss was to Apex). This week vs. Holy Springs at home,  JV won their matches 2-0 and Varsity went 3-1.

Tonight they go up against a tough Green Hope team.

Photographer Tom Mousseau filed this slide show of Panther Creek football from last Friday night. PCHS defeated visiting Leesville Road 19-13.

Panther Creek travels to Durham Jordan in a non-league contest on Friday, August 27. Also this coming Friday, Green Hope plays Leesville Road in an away game.

Cary, NC – Looks like there is an opportunity in Cary for the kids to get a jump on football season.  Panther Creek Head Coach Wayne Bragg is hosting a camp for young hopefuls in grades 3-8 on June 26, and June 27.

The goal of Panther Creek Football Camp is to provide sound fundamental instruction in all areas of the game and build, in each camper, a love and respect for the game. We will cover both offensive and defensive skills. There will be individual, group, and team instruction. Each camper will also receive a Panther Creek Football T-shirt. – from the PCFC Website

Fees are $50 for those making registrations that are made by June 12, and $60 for those registering later than June 12.
